The automaker is bringing its top SUV to the Indian market.

Highlights

  • Nissan displays X-Trail, Qashqai, and Juke in India.
  • The company is evaluating X-Trail and Qashqai, and the former will be on sale first.
  • All these cars work on a strong hybrid powertrain.
  • They will arrive in the market as completely imported units after the launch.
  • There is also a possibility of localization in the coming days.

Nissan India is in limelight for the launch of its new products after bringing its subcompact SUV Magnite in December 2020. Recently, the automaker has displayed three new SUVs, namely X-Trail, Qashqai, and Juke. They will give fair competition to Fortuner, Compass, and Creta, respectively.

The company will first bring X-Trail and Qashqai to India for further assessment. After a thorough evaluation, the company will first launch the full-size SUV in our country.

On the other hand, the Juke is only here for display purposes. Nissan mentioned that the tests would prove if these cars can cope with the conditions here and meet customer requirements. All three vehicles work on a strong hybrid powertrain taking advantage of their respective ranges.

Which model will come out first?

The fourth-generation X-Trail will go on sale in India before the others. It will come out once the officials complete all its tests in the country.

It showcases a touch of modern styling with a minimal-styled cabin and several advanced features. However, the highlight is what it has under the hood. The new-gen model consists of a conventional turbo-petrol engine with 1.5 liters of capacity, which generates 163 PS. You also have an option of a strong hybrid engine which gives a front-wheel drive of 240 PS and a four-wheel drive of 213 PS.

A brief introduction to Nissan Qashqai

Nissan has not yet declared the exact time of launching Qashqai in India. But if it passes all the tests successfully, then its launch will soon occur in the market. The Qashqai is a mid-size SUV, which will serve as a rival to the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Tucson, and Jeep Compass.

Nissan Juke

The company has showcased Nissan Juke only for display purposes. It is a compact SUV, which will give tough competition to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Hyundai Creta. The Juke has sharp creases and rounded lines, which give it a unique and quirky look as compared to its other competitors. Just like the Grand Vitara, its main focus is also a strong and hybrid engine of 1.5 liters of capacity. It combines a 94 PS petrol engine with an electric motor of 49 PS.

Launch and Pricing

Nissan has not yet given an exact period of launch of these vehicles in the Indian market. Initially, the manufacturer will bring them to India as complete units. As a result, they will turn out to be a bit heavier in the pocket of Indian customers. However, the carmaker is conducting localized tests to see how they can manufacture them in the country in the upcoming future.
