Trichy: Police have arrested two persons, including a 19-year-old man, on charges of snatching 10 liquor bottles at knife point from staff of a Tasmac outlet in the city on December 18. A video of one of the youths threatening the staff and snatching the bottles had recently gone viral on social media.
Police have revealed the identity of only one of the arrested as L Jude Antony, a resident of Palakkarai in Trichy. Sources said Antony and his accomplice had gone to the outlet at Pitchai Nagar on December 18. Antony barged into the shop and threatened the staff while the other stood outside. Based on a complaint lodged by the Tasmac staff, police registered a case.
During a vehicle-check on Thursday, police intercepted a duo on a bike. Investigation revealed that they were the ones who snatched the liquor bottles. During interrogation, the duo confessed to having been involved in a similar incident in Srirangam, police said.
