Indian women wrestlers got big success, Anshu-Vinesh and Ritika achieved quota

India’s star women wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik and Ritika have secured the quota for this year’s Paris Olympics by performing brilliantly in the ongoing Asian Olympic Qualifiers in Bishkek.

Ritika also got victory

Under-23 World Champion Ritika did not have to sweat much to defeat Yunju Hwang. He won the first round on the basis of technical superiority. In the final group match against China’s Huang Wang, Ritika took an 8-0 lead, but the Chinese player came back and won six consecutive points. He made another move in the final moments but to the great relief of the Indian camp, it was not awarded a point as it came at the end of the stipulated time. In her semi-final, Ritikja recorded an easy 7-0 win against Hui Tsz Chang of Chinese Taipei. Mansi Ahlawat (62 kg) also reached the last four. He needed to win just one match. Against Kazakhstan’s Irina Kuznetsova, she emerged a 6–4 winner, but was defeated by North Korea’s Hyeon Gyeong Mun. He did not give any chance to the Indian wrestler to attack. The only Indian wrestler who could not reach the semi-finals was Nisha Dahiya (68 kg).

Vinesh’s victory

Vinesh secured an Olympic quota in the women’s 50kg category by defeating Kazakhstan’s Laura Ganikzy 10-0 in the women’s 50kg semi-finals at the Asian Olympic Qualifiers. He won the fight in 4:18 minutes. Now she will face Uzbekistan’s Aktenge Kunimjeva, who has defeated Chinese Taipei’s Meng Hsuan Hsi 4-2. Anshu Malik won on the basis of technical superiority At the same time, Anshu Malik achieved Paris Olympic quota in women’s 57 kg category. She defeated Laylokhon Sobirova of Uzbekistan by technical superiority 11-0. Earlier, Anshu had won both his matches in Bishkek on the basis of technical superiority.

Vinesh’s strong start

Vinesh defeated Korean rival Miran Cheon in the women’s 50 kg category in a match that lasted one minute 39 seconds. The opposing player had no answer to his strong grip. In the next match, Vinesh defeated Smanang Dit of Cambodia in just 67 seconds and made it to the semi-finals. The two wrestlers who reach the final will get Olympic quota. Vinesh is playing in the 50 kg category after winning the selection trials. Even if she misses out, she will be a contender in the 53kg category in which Panghal has last secured the quota. The finalists may be asked to appear in another trial.

Anshu got direct entry into quarter finals

World Championships 2021 silver medalist Anshu got a direct entry into the quarter-finals in which she defeated Kyrgyzstan’s Kalmira Bilimbekova on technical superiority. At the same time, Under-23 world champion Ritika defeated Yunju Hwang in the 76 kg category. He won the first round on the basis of technical superiority. After this, Mongolia’s Davansan Enkh Emar was also defeated in a similar manner. In the last group match against China’s Huang Wang, she won 8-2. Mansi Ahlawat (62 kg) also reached the last four. She defeated Irina Kuznetsova of Kazakhstan 6-4.

Nisha Dahiya got defeated

While four Indian female wrestlers secured a place in the semi-finals, another wrestler Nisha Dahiya (68 kg) missed a place in the semi-finals. They defeated Seoul Gum Pak of North Korea 8-3 in the first round. But after this she could not maintain the momentum and lost to Mirim Jumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan. The last world qualifier of the Paris Olympics will be played in Turkey from May 9.

Aman failed to maintain the rhythm

Aman made a dominant debut in the 57kg category, defeating his first two rivals Yerasil Mukhtaruli and Sungwon Kim by technical superiority. He however failed to continue the momentum against Uzbekistan’s Gulomjon Abdullaev and lost after trailing by 10 points. The Indian wrestling world had high expectations from Aman as he had won the opportunity to represent the country by defeating Ravi Dahiya, who was considered strong in his age group.
