Rajasthan CM Gehlot sacks state minister Rajendra Gudha for commenting on law and order

In Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot sacked Rajendra Gudha, a Minister of State, after he criticized the government’s handling of crimes against women in the assembly. Gudha questioned the focus on the Manipur violence when crimes against women in Rajasthan were increasing. The Leader of Opposition, Rajendra Rathore, joined in the criticism, highlighting the state’s high crime rate against women. Following Gudha’s removal, he claimed he was punished for speaking the truth.

The BJP supported Gudha, asserting that he was sacked for telling the truth about the deteriorating law and order and rising crimes against women in Rajasthan. Gudha, who switched to the Congress in 2019 after winning as a BSP candidate, had previously shown support for Sachin Pilot. He has been making controversial statements, causing embarrassment to the Congress-led government.

Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned for the second day due to protests over the Manipur violence. The Monsoon session began after a video of two women being sexually assaulted and paraded by a mob in Manipur went viral.

The BJP accused Gehlot of suppressing the truth and being indifferent to crimes against women, while Gehlot’s government claimed that the highest number of atrocities on women occurred during BJP rule. The situation in Rajasthan remains tense as the political drama unfolds.
