There will be more incidents like heat wave, flood, drought, storm around Ganga-Indus, this area will be affected.

Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology and Augsburg University have expressed concern over the ill effects of climate change in their latest study. Its results have been published in the Journal of Hydrometeorology.

In the coming decades, the fertile region around the Ganges and Indus may become a hotspot for extreme events due to climate change. Due to these, very fertile areas will be affected. The combined effects of extreme weather events will have a profound impact on millions of people year after year. These extreme weather events include events like heat wave, heavy rain, flood, drought, storm etc

Researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology and Augsburg University have expressed concern over the ill effects of climate change in their latest study. Its results have been published in the Journal of Hydrometeorology. Researchers have focused on mixed extreme events involving water and climate. Its objective was to find out how often these mixed events could wreak havoc in India in the future. And which areas will be most affected by these. Researchers have emphasized on measures like investment in seeds capable of withstanding heat and drought and construction of dams to avoid rising temperatures.

Emphasis on four possible scenarios

The study is based on four possible future scenarios involving greenhouse gas emissions. Each scenario also takes into account future changes in carbon dioxide emissions, including population growth, resource distribution, technological progress and lifestyle changes. These scenarios serve as internally consistent blueprints for future realities to come

yield will be affected

According to researchers, major crops like paddy and wheat are grown in this fertile lowland area. Due to the continuous increase in global temperature, this area is in great danger. In future, due to extreme heat, drought and heavy rains, not only the yield will be affected but the yield of some crops will also be destroyed

The danger will increase six times

According to the study, densely populated areas in the country have seen heavier rainfall and greater changes in heat compared to dry summers in the past. In some parts of the country, including the Indo-Gangetic plains and the far south coast, this change will increase up to six times
