Now government employees will have to give an affidavit of not taking dowry, teachers said, educated girl is needed

To control dowry, strict action has been taken from the government level. Officers and employees working in government service will no longer be able to take dowry in their marriage. They will have to give an affidavit to their appointing authority mentioning the time of marriage that they have not taken any dowry in their marriage.

Teachers belonging to the largest government service category of the district welcomed this arrangement and said that they will not take dowry and will inspire students and others to do the same. Initiatives have been started at the government level to stop government officials and employees from taking dowry in their marriages. The government has become active in strictly enforcing the Uttar Pradesh Dowry Prohibition Rules 2004.

Director of Women Welfare Department, Sandeep Kaur has issued instructions to all the heads of departments that an affidavit should be taken from the government servants. For this, an affidavit will have to be filled in the prescribed format, in which it will have to be made clear that she has not taken dowry at the time of marriage or after.

No dowry, need an educated girl

Teachers belonging to the largest section of government service in the district welcomed this instruction and said that we should give priority to an educated girl and not dowry. District President of Uttar Pradesh Primary Teachers Association, Sakaldev Singh said that every teacher will follow this order of the government and will also inspire students and others. Executive District President of the Educational Federation, Jyoti Prakash said that due to dowry being a curse for the society, many innocent girls committed suicide.
