InterGlobe Aviation Limited (IndiGo), the parent company of India’s leading airline, has collaborated with US-based Archer Aviation to launch an all-electric air taxi service in India. The joint venture aims to revolutionize urban transportation by providing efficient, eco-friendly air travel solutions to people commuting between Delhi and Gurugram.
Delhi – Gurugram air taxi service, when will it be launched?
This ambitious air taxi service will be operational between New Delhi and Gurugram by early 2026. Commuters can expect to reach Gurugram in just seven minutes from Connaught Place in the heart of the national capital. Which will significantly reduce travel time and increase connectivity between these two busy cities.
Delhi – Gurugram Air Taxi Fare
A seven-minute flight in a five-seater electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft from Connaught Place to Gurugram is estimated to cost between Rs 2,000 and Rs 3,000, Adam Goldstein, founder and CEO of Archer Aviation, told news agency PTI. That discussions are ongoing with the US regulator, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the certification process for their aircraft is almost complete.
The company hopes to get the certification next year, after which they will begin the certification process with the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India. The eVTOL aircraft, known as the Midnight Aircraft, has impressive features including low noise levels and enhanced safety measures. Apart from one pilot, four passengers can sit in it. This aircraft provides a comfortable and efficient travel experience. Each aircraft will be equipped with six battery packs. Which gets charged in 30-40 minutes. That means it can fly for about one minute on one minute of charging.
