‘Dalit’s son was going to become mayor of Delhi, so they conspired and stopped the elections

The mayor elections to be held in Delhi on 26 April were postponed. Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has not appointed the presiding officer. Behind this, the Lieutenant Governor has cited that the Chief Minister does not have the opinion on the file sent by the Delhi Government. In such a situation, MCD postponed the mayor elections. After which Aam Aamdi Party is continuously busy cornering LG and BJP.

In a press conference on Friday, Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh said that BJP people are not able to see the Dalits and backward people moving forward in the country. These people are conspiring to stop the Dalits. This time, Dalit community was to become the mayor of Delhi MCD, but by canceling the elections, he has given another proof of his anti-Dalit mentality and dismantling of the Constitution.

The Rajya Sabha MP said that Baba Saheb has given the right in the Constitution that a person from Dalit community will serve once on the post of Mayor of MCD. This was not seen by BJP and they canceled the elections. This time, BJP’s LG Saheb became the pawn in their work against Dalits and the Constitution. Today, when Dalit’s son was about to become the Mayor of Delhi, they conspired and stopped the mayor’s election.

Earlier, while returning the file for appointing the Presiding Officer, the Lieutenant Governor discussed the allegations being made regarding the Chief Minister being in jail and not appointing the Presiding Officer on his behalf without taking the name of AAP.

The Lieutenant Governor said that the Chief Minister is in judicial custody as an undertrial in a corruption case and he cannot discharge his functions constitutionally. In this situation, after careful consideration, he has taken a decision regarding the appointment of the Presiding Officer in view of maintaining the sanctity of the law and the provisions of the Constitution. Chief Minister’s opinion is not available in the file. Therefore, the concerned ministers are making baseless allegations.

The Lieutenant Governor said that in the absence of the opinion of the Chief Minister, he did not consider it appropriate to use his power to appoint the presiding officer. For this reason the proposed election of Mayor and Deputy Mayor was postponed. The Lieutenant Governor directed that in case the new Mayor is not elected, the functioning of the MCD should not be affected. The current Mayor and Deputy Mayor will continue to hold office until the election of their successor.
