Another Indian student dies in America, body of Mohammad Abdul Arafat Found

Another case of death of an Indian student has come to light in America. Actually, the body of Indian student Mohammad Abdul Arafat, who went missing last month, has been found. The body of Mohammad Abdul Arafat has been recovered from Cleveland, America. This is the second incident in a week when an Indian student has died in America. Mohammad Abdul Arafat was a resident of Nacharam, Hyderabad, India and he came to America in May last year to study Masters in IT from Cleveland University.

Last talked to family on March 7

Arafat’s father Mohammad Salim said that he last spoke to Arafat on March 7, after which he had no contact with the family. His mobile phone was also switched off. The young man living with Arafat had told Arafat’s father that he had filed a missing report with the police. On March 19, Arafat’s family received an anonymous call stating that Arafat had been kidnapped by a drug gang and demanding US$1,200 for his release.

Arafat’s father told that ‘the person making the call had threatened that if the ransom money was not paid, he would sell Arafat’s kidney.

Mohammad Salim told that when we asked the caller how to make the payment, he did not give information about it. When we demanded to talk to our son, he refused. Now, after Arafat’s dead body has been found, a mountain of sorrow has fallen on his family. Last week too, Indian student Uma Satya Sai Gadde had died in Ohio, which is under investigation.

Consulate General expressed condolences to the victim’s family

The Indian Consulate General in New York expressed grief over the death of Mohammad Arafat by sharing a post on social media. The Consulate General wrote that it was ‘deeply distressed that Mohammed Abdul Arafat, who was being sought, has been found dead in Cleveland, Ohio. Condolences to Arafat’s family. The Consulate General said it was in touch with local agencies to investigate the death. The Consulate General said that they are providing all possible help to bring the mortal remains to India. Last month, the embassy had said that it was working with legal agencies to find the Indian student.
