Police filed an FIR on the charges of criminal intimidation and molestation, including some charges under the IPC section 420. Last Friday, a five-day manhunt started to find Shrikant. As he kept changing SIM cards and phones, it was difficult to track him. Finally, on Tuesday, the police nabbed him in Meerut.

Twelve teams visited Uttarakhand and western UP. There they checked all possible CCTV footage and identified Tyagi in various spots. However, he managed to slip away every time. On Tuesday, the police received authentic information about the location of Tyagi. According to the tip, he was planning to visit the Noida district court to move a surrender plea. Following the information that he would travel via Delhi-Meerut Expressway, the police officials gathered in Meerut at the Partapur bypass. Police teams surrounded his Baleno car and captured him at around 10:30 am.

Initially, Tyagi was planning to escape out of Delhi by taking a quick flight. The officials came to know this during interrogation. He tried to visit the IGI airport on Friday but did not escape as his video went viral. Instead, he drove to Meerut and spent the night there. On the next morning, he went to Rishikesh and changed his phone.

Police reached out to his wife and kept track of his location by questioning her. On Sunday, his location again showed in UP. Cops also took Rahul into their custody, who is Tyagi’s close associate and his gang member. Two other accused include his driver Sanjay and a Baghpat resident, Nakul Tyagi, who helped him dodge the police.

Tyagi had VIP numbers and MLA stickers on his cars to make sure that nobody messed with him. He already had six cases of extortion against him. He also claimed to be a member of BJP KisanMorcha. However, the party has denied all such claims.
