The HMSI – Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India has announced its plans to launch electric vehicles in the coming days. The manufacturing company aims to sell 10 Lakh two-wheelers every year by 2030. By the end of this decade, it hopes to make electric two-Wheelers contribute about 30% of its total sales.
Honda decides to enter the segment of manufacturing electric vehicles in India due to market trends. At present, there is a boom in the sales of EV 2-Wheelers. In the last fiscal year, the sales of two Wheeler electric vehicles have increased by 370%. From the new bidders like Ola electric to the established companies like Hero electric, many automobile manufacturers are moving towards EVs.
The president and CEO of Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, Mr. Atsushi Ogata, announced this a few days back. He said that the company is planning to increase its electric two-Wheeler sale to 30% of its total sales. The motor corporation is determined to achieve this target within the next 10 years.
He added that the firm is targeting to achieve a 30% market share in the electric vehicle manufacturing segment. So the estimation is to sell 1,000,000 two-Wheeler EVs from HMSI by 2030.
Ogata mentioned that presently, the Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India is trying to finalize its EV strategy for India. It is likely to share a concrete road map for its future production of EVs by the end of this year. The company officials said that they would introduce EVs with the help of other Honda subsidiaries in the country.
Strong indigenous support with the help of global expertise will expand the horizons of HMSI in India.
Besides electric vehicles, the company is also working on a Flexi-fuel commuter motorcycle. Soon it is planning to launch the model in the country. The introduction of multiple EV models with the implementation of Flex-fuel technology will lead to an exciting future.
Currently, the Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India sells scooters and ICE motorcycles in the country. There are four units of HMSI in India, where it manufactures all its models. These facilities are located in Vithalapur in Gujarat, Narsapura in Karnataka, Tapukara in Rajasthan, and Manesar in Haryana.
